Players take control of different gangs, each using up to five different types of tanks. Most of the tanks can activate special abilities with the left and right C-buttons.

Multiplayer allows players to play in almost all of the maps from campaign mode, as well as some which are exclusive to multiplayer. The maps usually are based on known landmarks and locations in the United States or Europe, such as Route 66, the White House, the British Houses of Parliament, and the Eiffel Tower.

BattleTanx Global Assault is an action game developed and published by 3DO for the Nintendo 64 and PlayStation in which players control futuristic tanks in a post-apocalyptic scenario. It is a sequel to the N64 game BattleTanx, which utilized the same method of game play. 3DO went bankrupt before another sequel could be released.

A plot point introduced in this game focused on the Four Sacred Arms. Though seen in full since Battle Arena Toshinden 2, their relevance was never previously brought up. Each weapon bears a reference to one of the Chinese cardinal beasts, Byakko, Suzaku, Seiryu and Genbu. The weapons also seem to change appearance depending on the user. While the Byakko no tachi (White Tiger Fang) is usually seen as a rather plain katana, the Seiryuu no yari (Azure Dragon Spear) was a long leaf tipped spear while held by Mondo, yet altered to an ornate golden rod in the hands of Eos. As a purely cosmetic addition, when using a certain attack, an image of the beast associated with the weapon will display in the background.

Plotwise, it was said that when all four weapons were gathered together, they would bestow tremendous power on a person. Most characters in the game have their endings based around uniting the weapons and receiving the power of them. In some endings, they use this power to speak to a parent or loved one. However, Eiji's ending reveals the true nature of the power behind the weapons: It is the "Toshin", or god of fighting. This being is definitely not the one worshiped by the main antagonist group of Toshinden 3, Agon Teos, since Vermilion makes a clear distinction between the two in his own ending.

Toshinden 4 (Toshinden Subaru in Japan) is the fourth installment of the fighting game series Battle Arena Toshinden. Unlike previous installments, it only saw release in Japan and the PAL region. It was released a total of three times in Europe; it originally came out on June 30, 2000, and was re-released on The White Label Range on April 12, 2001, and was re-released again by Play It On, November 20, 2003.

Team 1:

• Subaru Shinjo - The main character of the game. The son of Sho Shinjo and Cupido, Subaru is a traveling swordsman who seeks to locate the whereabouts of his missing uncle, Eiji.
• Naru Amoh - Kayin Amoh's foster daughter who was last seen as a playable character in Toshinden 3 (albeit when she was a small child). Now that she's a teenager, Naru joins forces with Subaru and Rook in order to participate in the tournament, hoping that she'll be able to figure out on what had happened to her foster father, who had disappeared after the events of Toshinden 3.
• Rook Castle - A nunchaku-wielding American youth who dreams to meet and test his own fighting skills against his idol, Eiji Shinjo from within the tournament. Aside from that, he also wants to find a mysterious ninja girl who had defeated him in a street fight from within the past.

Team 2:

• Puella Marionette - A young petite Swiss girl who fights to defend the world's peace while wielding the Suzaku Bow (the same weapon that Uranus had used from within Toshinden 2). Uranus was her mother.
• Lancelot Lakeknight - A noble yet cowardly English fencer who seeks to improve himself after a past battle against Naru.
• Fen Barefoot - A young Brazilian boy/fisherman who seeks revenge against Genma for the death of his grandfather. He has a pet pig named Wolfy who accompanies him wherever he goes and that Wolfy is able to attack if given a command from Fen.

Team 3:

• Genma - A mysterious yet malevolent Chinese magician who seeks to gain the four holy weapons for his own personal greed. He is extremely old, more than 2,000 years old.
• Miyabi - A young Japanese kunoichi who was kidnapped by Genma and brainwashed into becoming his personal servant.
• Bang-Boo - A Cuban cyborg who has been programmed to work for Genma and Miyabi.

However, the competition provides endless opportunities for the Ravens, mercenaries who exist independently of the corporations. You, the protagonist, pilot an armored core (AC), which is a giant mecha robot.

Game play

The game starts with the player engaging in a test to become part of the "Raven's Nest". It simply involves destroying two Muscle Tracers (MTs), before being destroyed oneself. Upon passing this test, the player receives mission requests from corporations and other groups. Missions generally pay higher as difficulty increases. Depending on which missions are chosen, the story progresses differently. The player can also read mail from various senders, and observe the rankings, which are based on mission success rates.

One notable aspect regarding the parts, particularly weapons, in the original Armored Core and its two PS1 expansions is that they are by far the most powerful in the series. For example, the original KARASAWA fired faster than most AST Rifles and Pulse Rifles in later games. The FINGER had 3000 ammo, and the Large Missile came in two styles, one that flew like a regular missile (discontinued after Master of Arena), and the traditional slow (though roughly twice as fast as later versions such as those in Last Raven) version. The slow version had ten missiles as opposed to the current four, and was the longest range missile of the first generation.

Arc the Lad III features Alec, a young Hunter with a mysterious past.

Each game expands on the previous one. Arc the Lad II features a much larger and less linear world than its predecessor, and it brings back the cast of the first game in addition to featuring a new group of characters. Arc the Lad III features an upgraded graphics system, replacing the sprite backdrops of the first two games with three-dimensional backgrounds.

Equipment

Throughout the Arc the Lad series, the equipment system changes from its very simple beginnings to a full-blown equipment system in later titles. In Arc the Lad, only accessories can be equipped, and can only be chosen at the start of battle. Accessories boost statistics in various ways, and can be dropped by defeated enemies, received from opening chests in battle, received from NPCs, or found in the few explorable areas the game presents. The weapons and armor a character uses cannot be changed. Despite some accessories bearing weapon- or armor-like names, such as the Phantom Set of items (gauntlet, ring, shield, and sword), there are no weapon or armor systems.

Arc the Lad II boosts the gameplay by including a revamped weapon system. Weapons, armor, items, and accessories can now be equipped on characters. Items, armor, and weapons can be bought in stores, found in battle, found in explorable areas or created in the combination shop. The combination shop requires that ingredients be brought and assembled. Each character has several types of equipable weapons. For example, Shu can equip battle shoes or fire arms such as assault rifles and shotguns. Weapons can also be improved, and can gain a +1 beside their name to indicate their increased parameters. These monsters can be used in battle as well, as party selection is variable in Arc the Lad II, based on the amount of characters the player has recruited and whether certain characters are usable at certain times in the game.

A similar system is found in Arc the Lad III, however the synthesis guild replaces the combination shop, and, to many fans, the synthesis guild is far more indepth than the combination shop. Recipes must be found by the players, unlike in Arc the Lad II where the shop would tell you exactly what to use. The monster system is limited to a card system, where monsters can be trapped in cards and later used for attacks.

The controls are centered heavily around the use of the two analog sticks, and thus a Dual Analog or DualShock controller is required for gameplay. The left analog stick is used to move Spike around, with shoulder buttons used for jumping and camera control, whilst the right stick manipulates the various gadgets Spike attains throughout the game. The game also makes use of the L3 and R3 buttons, which are used by pressing down the respective analog sticks.[1][2] These control schemes are omitted from the PlayStation Portable remake in favor of traditional controls due to the handheld's lack of a second analog stick.

Spike begins the game with his primary gadgets, the Stun Club and Time Net, which are used by pushing the right analog stick in the direction the player wishes to swing them. The Stun Club is used as an offensive measure against enemy characters and to temporarily stun monkeys, while the Time Net is used to capture monkeys and send them back to the present day.[3][4] As the player progresses, Spike will earn new gadgets, each with their own control schemes, which are explained in a mandatory training level when they are earned.[3][5][5] Examples include a slingshot, which has players pull back on the analog stick to aim and release to fire, the propeller, which lets players reach higher areas by twirling the analog stick like a helicopter, and the R/C car which can be freely controlled with the right analog stick.[4] Players can equip four of these gadgets at a time, which can be switched in real-time using the four face buttons. Additionally, there are vehicles such as a rubber raft and a tank, which requires the use of both analog sticks to control, and the water net, which helps Spike swim underwater and can also fire monkey capturing nets.

GamePlay

The monkeys are equipped with Pipo Helmets which feature a siren that represents their current alarm level. A blue siren represents they are relaxed and unaware of the player's presence, yellow means they are alert and red means they are fully alarmed and will either try to run away or become hostile. Players can sneak up on some monkeys by crawling up to them using the L3 button. A monkey's personality is often determined by the color of shorts it is wearing. For normal monkeys, yellow shorts represent standard monkeys, light blue shorts represent timid monkeys and red shorts represent aggressive monkeys. There are also monkeys that are equipped with either long range weaponry, which can prove to be dangerous, or binoculars that let them spot the player from far away. Upon entering a stage for the first time, players will have a specified number of monkeys to capture in order to progress to the next stage, the exception being levels in which a boss character will appear. After a level has been cleared once, the player may revisit that level to capture any monkeys they may have missed, some of which will require gadgets obtained in later levels.[3][6]

Alundra is a silent protagonist.
Alundra has drifted to a beach, where a man named Jess finds and rescues him. Jess carries Alundra to his house at village Inoa and lets him sleep in his guest room. In the village, Alundra discovers he is a Dreamwalker and helps the villagers get rid of the nightmares that have been possessing them. Since Alundra's arrival, bad things have started to happen in the village, with various villagers being murdered in their dreams. Some of the people eventually blame Alundra for what is happening. Later in the game, however, it is revealed that the demon, Melzas, has disguised himself as a god, and he is the source of all the nightmares of the village. His goal is to make the villagers pray for their god, and thus gaining power from their prayers. Ronan, the priest of the village, was also on the side of Melzas and helped him to deceive the villagers.
Another dreamwalker, Meia, from the clan Elna arrives to the city and helps Alundra fight off the nightmares of the villagers, while he gathers the information and items needed to access Melzas' palace and eventually kill the demon.

GamePlay

Alundra is considered a spiritual sequel to Climax Entertainment's Landstalker on the Sega Genesis / Mega Drive.[2] In addition to a similar looking main character, the game's development team consisted of former employees of Climax Entertainment. The gameplay style is top-down action-adventure and is known for containing many extremely difficult puzzles, some of which cannot be accessed if the player progresses further in the game, making some items unattainable.[citation needed] It is also known for its music and dark storyline. A range of terrain and surfaces also add variety, from sand, which causes the player to move more slowly, to lava, which damages the player. Upgrades throughout the game can help the player to overcome many of these obstacles, encouraging exploration.
